Speaking during an interview on Sunday, November 13, Liz, a reporter at SPM Buzz, explained that she was the one who asked for his contacts during the brief interaction.

According to her, the CS did not only speak to her but also to other journalists after the joint presser by President William Ruto and his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa.

“I used that opportunity and asked him whether we could have an exclusive interview and he agreed and gave me his phone number,” Liz explained.

A young journalist among veterans, the reporter stated that Mutua looked back as she was asking her question because one of the members giggled as she asked her question.

“I had second thoughts about the relevance of my question because I asked about music and art and the CS is a filmmaker. That could be why he turned,” the journalist stated.

Liz admitted that she felt discouraged but a slight nod by the CS encouraged her to carry on, with President Ruto choosing to respond to her question first.

The 23-year-old journalist also took credit for the light moment by President Ramaphosa when he cracked a joke about why he only spoke Swahili on Fridays.

“There was a plan for an exchange programme between Kenya and South Africa to have Swahili spoken in both countries and in relation to that, what plans have been made to ensure SA culture arts and entertainment interactions will be made easier between the two countries?” She posed.

Having been in the media industry for just nine months, Liz disclosed that she always endeavours to maintain a professional relationship with her guests.
