Violent protests Tuesday rocked Bogiakumu in Bonchari after a lone gunman shot and critically injured a man following a political disagreement.
Residents claimed that the nighttime shooting at the Bosiabano outside of Suneka town was the result of an argument over political adherence to certain candidates.
There were few details available regarding the shooter’s identity, however several locals claimed he was a vigilante from the area.
The victim sustained abdominal wounds.
Charles Machinji, commander of Gesonso Sub-County, reported that the main suspect had already been taken into custody.
Further investigations are underway, he told the Star by phone.
“We have already started investigations and will provide further details as they unfold,” he said.
