Should Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga win the next government, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has won Cabinet slots and a pledge to change the law to create the post of Prime Minister, which he will hold.
This was part of Mr Musyoka’s bargain to return to Azimio after originally protesting his rejection for the position of Mr Odinga’s running mate, which was given to Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua.
It was also revealed that President Kenyatta intervened at the last minute to facilitate Mr Musyoka’s return to the fold and acceptance of the Chief Cabinet Secretary position that had been set aside for him.
The Musyoka camp may also hold the position of Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary, which he held during the Kanu regime.
Sources indicated other ministerial positions fronted by Mr Musyoka are those of Energy, Water, Health and Tourism.
Insiders in Mr Musyoka’s camp said yesterday that during the talks steered by the principals, President Kenyatta, who chairs the Azimio Council, Mr Odinga, and Mr Moi, the Wiper leader held that the Chief CS position was less powerful than the Deputy President position, and that a percentage of government should be reserved for his side.
Mr Musyoka agreed to rejoin Azimio yesterday, a position he declared in the presence of Wiper and Kanu officials at his SKM command center in Karen, Nairobi, as part of the deal that was sealed on Wednesday night.
After that, he went to Mukuru Kwa Njenga in the Embakasi South Constituency to join Mr Odinga for a rally.
