Three boys in Kabarnet, Baringo County, have serious leg burns after a pastor burned their legs for allegedly stealing rock cakes worth Ksh. 80.
The youngsters are being treated at the Baringo County Referral Hospital, two of them are in secondary school and one in primary school.
Pastor Rashid Nduma of Deliverance Church is claimed to have caught one of the kids taking his cakes from a bakery within the Kaptimbor shopping area on Tuesday night.
They started burning the boy’s feet in the bakery oven with the help of two other bakery employees.
The boy was obliged to reveal the identities of his two friends with whom he claimed he had been sharing the cakes.
The preacher with his group hurried to the homes of the exposed acquaintances to rouse them up and whisked them away to the bakery where they burned their legs.
It took the involvement of the locals who were woken by their piercing wails of the boys.
Two persons were caught, including the pastor, and were booked at the Kabarnet police station, where two more suspects managed to flee and are being pursued.
The two are expected to be arraigned on Thursday.
