According to the Ministry of Education, the year 2022 was fully packed with four academic terms and five national examinations ( two KCPE, two KCSE and one Assessment for pioneer class of the new competence based curriculum who will be completing Grade 6).
The 2021 KCPE and KCSE candidates concluded their national examinations last month while their colleagues who will progress to std 8 and Form 4 respectively will sit for their national tests later in the year.
Grade 6 learners will also take their first national CBC exam in December, this year.
The school year in 2022 will begin on 25/04/2022 and ends on 25/11/2022.
Term 1 in 2022 will run for 10 weeks, from 25th April to 1st July. Students will then proceed to a short, 1-week holiday break from the 2nd of July to the 10th of July 2022.
N/B: According to MoE ,Form ones admission is slated to take place on 7th May 2022
Term 2, 2022 will start on 11th July to 16th September, followed by a 3 day half term break from 11th August to 14th August. Schools will then school on 17th September 2022 for a week- long term 2 holiday break.
The third term in 2022 starts on 26th, September and ends on 25th November 2022.
The 2022 KCPE runs from 28/11/2022 to 1/12/2022. The 2022 KCSE candidates will sit for their final national exams starting from 1/12/2022.
Marking exercise will take place between 2nd January 2023 and 20th January 2023.
2023 School Calendar
The 2023 school calendar will start on 23rd January 2023 and end on 03/11/2023.
Kenyan schools will resume the almost normal academic calendar again starting from January 2023.
Term 1 in 2023 starts on 23/01/2023 and closes on 21/04/2023 after 13 weeks. Term 1, 2023 has a 2 weeks holiday break from 22nd April to 7th May.
Term 2 runs from 8th May to 11th August 2023 and takes 13 weeks.
Thereafter, learners will proceed for a 2 weeks holiday from 12th August to 27th August 2023.
Term 3 in 2023 will begin on 28/08/2023 and end on 03/11/2023, after 10 weeks.
KCPE and KCSE national exams will be done in November 2023.
