Langata Member of Parliament Nixon Korir on Wednesday, August 10, conceded defeat after losing his re-election bid.
Korir, who was contesting on a UDA ticket, told his constituents that he was grateful to the people of Lang’ata, who allowed him to serve them for 5 years.
He also congratulated ODM candidate Felix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o for being the projected winner.
“I sincerely thank you for according me an opportunity to be your Member of Parliament for the last 5 years. It’s been a great opportunity that gave me an avenue to contribute to our nation-building and service to the people,” the former aide to Deputy President William Ruto stated.
Korir stated that from the results he had received that they had tallied at the Generali Centre, his competitor Jalango had an early lead.
“According to the voters’ turnout and the campaign, definitely we are winning. But I can see the town is a little bit slower, maybe because it was a little bit cold in the morning.
“I can see it is now picking and we hope that it will continue that way. I am yet to look at the actual numbers in terms of the voter turnout,” he stated.
He further commended the IEBC for ensuring the process runs smoothly and remained confident that it will deliver its mandate
