Nigerian artist Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu known by his stage name as Burna Boy is on the spot after his security escorts attempted to kill a man in a club.
According to Nigerian media, a man who was shielding his wife from Burna Boy’s advances was shot by the musician’s security guard.
Irebami Lawrence and Tolu were the victims of the incident, which occurred at Club Cubana on Victoria Island.
On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, around 4 a.m., the singer and his security apparently visited the club. While four cops escorted the Grammy winner to the VIP section, one officer, identified as Inspector Ibrahim, stood outside.
In the VIP section, the singer was joined by three women, and while there, he spotted a lady outside and asked Inspector Ibrahim to invite her to join him.
Knowing that the musician was making advances on his wife, the lady’s husband called it disrespectful and attempted to confront the artist.
“As things heated up, Ibrahim pulled out his service pistol and shot many times while Burna Boy started laughing,” a senior police officer told local media.
Burna Boy and his team reportedly fled the scene and withdrew to a different area despite being aware of what had occurred. In an attempt to distance himself from the events, the singer is alleged to have taken the first flight out of the country the next day.
The Lagos State Police Commissioner Special Squad has arrested five escorts so far.
