Frank obegi, a well-known Twitter influencer, has died.
Obegi was one among three people whose remains were discovered in Kijabe forest, Kiambu county, mutilated with private parts chopped off and disposed.
The influencer is among four mutual friends who went missing a week ago in Nairobi’s Kasarani area. A fourth body connected to the three is said to have been found in Magadi, Kajiado County.
According to reports, the four were allegedly involved in a cryptocurrency scam, which resulted in their deaths in such a horrific manner.
They had gone missing around Kasarani for a week before their bodies were discovered in Kijabe forest and identified.
Their bodies were horribly disfigured in what is suspected to be a vengeance operation, according to Lari OCPD Anderson Furaha.
According to Mr Furaha, the four were strangled before having their body parts hacked off. Deep wounds to the neck and chopped private parts were found on all four bodies.
“One of them had been partly eaten by wild animals. Their private parts had been amputated and it seems they died through strangulation. They had no identification documents and were naked,” Mr Furaha told Nation.
This comes after President Uhuru pledged harsh measures against digital fraudsters while unveiling the DCI forensic lab last week.
Increased digital transactions, according to the Head of State, have resulted in the growth of electronic fraud in the country.
As a result, he authorized the Ministry of Interior and ICT to develop a plan to increase the cybercrime unit’s capacity with the help of the Newly launched forensic lab.
