Deputy President William Ruto has disclosed that more political parties have shown interest in joining the Kenya Kwanza movement.
He said the parties are planning to ditch Azimio la Umoja for his coalition.
Ruto, who was speaking at Nyeri during the funeral of late James Rerian, the brother of his running mate and Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, said many leaders have begun to notice the difference between his team and that led by Raila Odinga.
He noted the difficulties that PAA head Amason Kingi and MCC leader Alfred Mutua faced in their hunt for coalition agreements as one of the causes that drove leaders out of the camp.
“This crew you see with me is large and formidable… More people are joining us because they’ve discovered what we’ve known for a long time is proving to be true,” he remarked.
He cited the events of Monday, in which Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka abandoned Azimio after feeling shortchanged, as one of the reasons why parties are considering to leave Azimio.
He also took a shot at Raila’s team, claiming that it is just interested in gaining jobs in government rather than serving the people.
Kenya Kwanza is committed on leaving no Kenyan behind, the DP stated.
He also lauded his running mate, Gachagua, calling him a man with a strong personality.
