The names of three candidates for various political positions who will be elected unopposed have been gazetted today by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, which is chaired by Wafula Chebukati. These candidates will be elected without opposition as we approach the August 9th elections, which are just 29 days away.
Part of the excerpt from the gazette notice read;
In Exercise of the powers conferred by Article 88 (4) of the Constitution, section 4 of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Act, 2011 and Regulation 53 of the Elections (General) Regulations, 2012, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission makes a declaration of no contest and declares the persons listed in the 3rd and 4th Columns of the First Schedule and 5th and 6th Columns of the Second Schedule duly elected for the electoral units listed in the Schedules.”
The Candidates include:
1.Beatrice Chepngeno kemei.
Ms. Kemei is running for the position of Kericho County Women Representative, which drew no candidates. Kemei, who will run for the seat on a UDA ticket, is the only candidate who won’t face opposition after receiving the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission’s endorsement (IEBC)
2. Honorable Julius Ngotie Kimutai.
In the next general elections, Kimutai is running for the Ravine Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat. On a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket, he is running for office. Eldama Ravine Constituency is in Baringo County.
3.Issa Abdi Aden.
In the elections on August 9th, Issa Aden is running for the Sabena Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) position. He is running for the Kenyan National Agenda Party (NAP-K). Sabena Ward is In Garissa County.
