The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has announced that a comprehensive voter list for the August 9 General election would be made available in two weeks.
According to the commission, this follows the completion of Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler’s voter verification exercise and the voter registration audit (KPMG).
The audit firm which also won the contract in 2017 began the process last month.
The IEBC’s nationwide electronic verification exercise began on May 4 and will end on June 2.
It will allow voters to verify their biometric data and ensure that their personal information was appropriately obtained.
Wafula Chebukati, the commission’s chairperson, said the independent audit was proceeding and that the firm’s suggestions will be adopted before being gazetted.
Last month, the IEBC put a hold on new voter registration until March of next year, citing concerns that it would complicate the verification process.
The announcement comes amid concerns among some leaders and other stakeholders over the commission’s delay in publishing the report.
All is well
