- Bachelor’s Degree in the subject(s) to be taught
- Recent (up-to-date) training in relevant subject(s), including IB/IGCSE teacher training (in some cases)
- International Teacher certification from any accredited university/college (in some cases)
- Relevant teaching experience – at least two years in a specific subject (s)
- Knowledge of the most recent educational technology

- a Master’s Degree in the relevant field (s)
- Qualified to teach a variety of Modern Languages courses (e.g. Spanish, French, etc.)
- Certification in Virtual/ Online/Distance teaching & learning
- The TSC certificate (most schools demand TSC registration or any other acceptable teaching license)
- Remember that a Police clearance certificate (certificate of good conduct) is oftenly required (it must not be expired).

Another option is to pursue the PGCEi, a part-time distance learning programme of professional development for educators working outside the UK.
The course is offered by the University of Nottingham through Braeburn International School, and upon successful completion, you will be awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (international).
This certificate confers you the Qualified Teacher Status
Minimum Entry Requirements
You should hold a relevant degree from an approved university/ or any other accredited institution of higher learning- In general, a 2nd class honours (at least) is needed.
In addition, you must satisfy the following English language requirements to be admitted (except where English is your first language):
IELTS 6.5 (the least you can have is 6.0 -in any element)
TOEFL iBT 87 (the least acceptable is 21 (in listening), 22 (in reading), 23 (in speaking) and 21 (in writing).
Please note that the above English Language entry conditions are waived for graduates of recognized universities in Tanzania or Kenya.

Those interested in obtaining IGCSE teacher certification in any subject in order to increase their chances of being hired for teaching positions in international schools can enroll in an online IGCSE Teacher certification course.
