A video clip seen by the media showed how the flames consumed the whole building which is attached to the main block housing its broadcasting studios.

The fire was, however, contained by the police as well as the G4S after an initial delay by the Nairobi county government which reportedly did not have a fire engine on standby.

“It started shortly before 6 a.m., G4S  and police have contained the fire. Staff on duty evacuated. Everyone is safe,” stated the source.

It is still not clear what caused the fire which has since been contained. The extent of the damage also remains unknown.

Fire outbreaks across the city have been rampant over the past month including incidences where a fire broke out at the Aberdare national park at the beginning of July.

Prior to the outbreak, another fire had burnt down the Platinum Packaging Company Ltd in Mlolongo, Machakos County on Monday, June 20.
