The head of the IEBC, Mr. Chebukati, disclosed that the Kenyan media is significantly behind in calculating the votes even though many TV stations are providing updates on the provisional presidential results in relation to the ongoing elections. As a result, the commission has been posting forms to its portal that track their progress and give indications of when the exercise will be finished.
Wajir, West Pokot, Turkana, Trans Nzoia, Tana River, Narok, Nandi, Nakuru, Nairobi, Marsabit, Mandera, Machakos, Lamu, Laikipia Kwale, Kisumu, Kiambu, Kakamega, Kajiado, Garrissa, Baringo, and Diaspora are major counties that have not yet submitted 100% of their ballots for the IEBC’s verification and tallying.
While DP Ruto is more popular than the ODM leader in the Baringo, Trans-Nzoia Lamu, Nakuru, Nandi, West Pokot, and Laikipia, the ODM leader is more popular in Nairobi, Wajir, Turkana, Mandera, Machakos, Kakamega, Kajiado, Tana River, and the Diaspora.
The remainder of Kenya’s 47 counties have already given the IEBC 100% of their Form 34As, and the IEBC has already verified and updated them on the portal. According to additional reports, the organization has received more than 99% of the ballots from various voting places across the country.
