The family of Gor Mahia chairperson, Ambrose Rachier, reacted differently to his confession as the lawyer’s interview with NTV continued evoking mixed reactions across the country.
His elder brother, John Rachier, faulted the accomplished lawyer for revealing that he was a member of the Freemasons on TV – a secret he reportedly kept for nearly three decades.
John stated that the decision was ill-advised and his younger brother should have foreseen the ramifications before confessing on national television.
“I have no problem with it, and it has not affected me because that is him and he has his life to live. However, we did not expect him to go on national television to make such revelations,” he told Nation Africa on Monday, October 3.
“I learned of my cousin’s membership of the Freemasons on television. I will talk to him and find out more about this,” Rachier’s cousin added.
Gor Mahia was among the first clubs and stakeholders to dissociate itself from his confession, maintaining that freemasonry was Rachier’s own personal belief.
His business partner, Rarieda Member of Parliament Otiende Amollo, also reiterated that their law firm is not part to freemasonry. Amollo and Rachier own Rachier & Amollo LLP law firm.
“Interesting times! I have seen an interview by my law firm partner Ambrose Rachier on Freemasonry! I am not and will never join Freemasonry!
“Let it be known that the law firm of Rachier & Amollo LLP is not associated with the movement!” Amollo firmly stated.
In his interview, Rachier detailed that freemasonry does not involve making controversial sacrifices to gain wealth. He insisted that the secret society is all about charity.
Rachier further dispelled reports that freemasonry is satanic, insisting that it accepts members from all religions, including Christians, Muslims, Buddhists and even Atheists.
They view King Solomon, the son of Biblical King David, as among the founders of their society.
